💨 Abstract
A retired counter-terrorism officer, Steve Barnett, faced a harrowing experience when his paraglider’s wing collapsed at 9,000 feet above the French Alps. The wing caved in due to water accumulation from flying into a storm cloud. Barnett attempted an emergency landing but plunged 30 feet through trees before crashing at 40mph, breaking his pelvis. Fellow paraglider Matt Roach assisted in locating him, leading to a quick rescue.
