Frederick Forsyth, who passed away recently, was a renowned thriller author and former RAF pilot turned journalist. Born in Kent, he spent his career traveling and gathering material for his 25 books, which sold 75 million copies. His first notable work was "The Day of the Jackal," inspired by the attempt on Charles de Gaulle's life. Forsyth's adventures included running errands for MI6 in East Germany and covering the Biafran Civil War.
