💨 Abstract
Tonight marks the final journey of Britain's longest direct train route, which has run from Penzance to Aberdeen since 1921, covering 775 miles. The service, paused during the pandemic, will end in Aberdeen and be shortened to Plymouth to Edinburgh (695 miles), with altered timetables for efficiency. Passengers have until tonight to experience the full journey, which includes scenic views of Bamburgh Castle and the Dawlish seawall.
