💨 Abstract
The Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, envisioned by Roxanne Quimby, has opened a welcome center named Tekαkαpimək that focuses on the Wabanaki tribes' history and culture, rather than Henry David Thoreau's perspective. The $35 million center, built with funds from entities like L.L. Bean and Burt’s Bees, provides exhibits and stunning views of the sacred Katahdin mountain.
