💨 Abstract
Filmmaker Peter Jackson is collaborating with Colossal Biosciences and the Ngāi Tahu Research Centre to genetically engineer living birds resembling the extinct South Island giant moa, which stood 12 feet tall. Jackson's collection of moa bones and $15 million funding will support this project, although experts are skeptical. The moa became extinct 600 years ago due to overhunting.
