💨 Abstract

The article describes the impact of diminishing salmon populations on Alaska Native communities, who rely on these fish for food and cultural rituals. With strict fishing restrictions and debates over resource extraction, the cultural and spiritual significance of salmon fishing is threatened. The communities grapple with economic needs and preserve traditions. Native populations, who have a significant presence in Alaska, are divided, with some supporting resource extraction and others advocating for environmental preservation, fearing the long-term impacts on traditional lifestyles and ecosystems.
