đź’¨ Abstract
Arlington County's board unanimously approved changes to its Trust Policy, removing provisions that allowed the police department to notify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) about certain arrests involving undocumented individuals. Board members cited a decrease in 911 calls and community trust due to fear of immigration enforcement. The revision aims to improve community safety and does not prevent ICE from operating within the county but stops local police from proactively contacting federal immigration authorities.
