💨 Abstract

A severe tropical storm, Wutip, hit China's Hainan island, causing evacuations, school closures, and flight cancellations. The storm, with winds up to 67 mph, was expected to make landfall near the Guangdong-Guangxi border. Authorities activated rescue teams and recalled fishing boats. Heavy rain and potential tornadoes were forecasted. The storm's name, "Wutip," means "butterfly" in Cantonese.
