💨 Abstract

A tropical storm, Wipha, is expected to intensify into a typhoon before hitting southern China on Sunday. It caused flight and ferry cancellations in Taiwan and the Philippines, with reports of heavy rain and wind damage. The storm, the sixth of the season in the western Pacific, is forecast to bring heavy rain to China's southern coast, including Hong Kong, where all flights and some transportation services will be disrupted. The storm will then weaken as it moves towards Vietnam and Laos.
