Tropical Storm Podul hit southern China after weakening in Taiwan. About 15,000 people were evacuated from coastal areas in Fujian, Guangdong, and Guangxi. The storm caused minor disruptions in Guangdong and Hong Kong but led to one fatality and 100 injuries in Taiwan. Southern Taiwan is recovering from the storm, with power restoration efforts underway.
