💨 Abstract

In June 2025, humpback whales in Sydney's harbor halting ferries, becoming a common sight for city residents as they migrate from Antarctica to Queensland. These migrations, part of the world’s longest mammal migrations, involve about 40,000 whales. The close encounters are due to the whales' size and curiosity, often leading to memorable interactions and causing traffic disruptions.
