đ¨ Abstract
Thousands lost power in severe storms in the DC area on June 19, 2025. Meanwhile, the African American Civil War Museum celebrated Juneteenth, honoring the estimated 6,000 Black soldiers who informed the last Confederate holdouts in Texas about the end of slavery, two years post-Emancipation Proclamation. Volunteers read aloud the names of these soldiers at a statue in Northwest D.C., highlighting their crucial role in the war's conclusion.
