đź’¨ Abstract
Starting this fall, D.C. will ban cellphones for middle and high school students during school hours. The policy, enforced from bell to bell, aims to reduce distractions and promote better student interactions. Successful pilot programs in middle schools and some high schools have shown positive impacts, such as increased peer connection and fewer distractions. Exceptions are made for medical or parent-related needs. The ban will vary by school, with some using storage lockers and others pencil pouches.
