💨 Abstract

On a hot day, kids from D.C. Police’s Summer Youth Academy went fishing at the D.C. police Harbor Patrol. Equipped with fishing gear and volunteers, the children experienced fishing for the first time. Despite initial nervousness, many caught fish and expressed joy and pride. The program aims to build positive relationships between law enforcement and youth. WeFish2, a nonprofit, supports such activities to encourage kids to interact with nature.
