💨 Abstract
The Fort Dupont Ice Arena in D.C.'s Ward 7 reopened after renovations, costing nearly $40 million. The arena, built in the 1970s, holds sentimental value for many, including Haretta Hairston Pearson, who started skating there as a child. Her father was a security guard during its construction. The arena's hockey program, Fort Dupont Cannons, was founded by Neal Henderson in 1978.
