Two Chinese scientists, Yunqing Jian and Chengxuan Han, remain in custody after waiving hearings in a Detroit federal court. They are accused of smuggling biological material into the U.S. for research at the University of Michigan. Han, pursuing a degree in Wuhan, is accused of shipping non-dangerous worm samples to the U.S. months ago.
