💨 Abstract

In Georgia, a federal judge temporarily blocked a 2024 law that would have required social media platforms to verify users' ages and mandating parental consent for children under 16. Judge Amy Totenberg ruled that the law infringes on free speech rights and limits anonymous online speech. This ruling is in line with similar decisions in several other states, where courts have also struck down or temporarily halted such legislation.
