💨 Abstract
In August 2025, West Virginia will ban seven artificial dyes from school meals, replacing them with natural coloring sources. This move, aimed at reducing potential health effects linked to synthetic dyes, follows a law signed in March, making it the first state to implement such a ban. School nutrition directors have been scrambling to adapt menus, finding that many common items, from cereals to pickles, contain these dyes.
