💨 Abstract

The EU's advocate general has urged the European Court of Justice to rule that Hungary violated EU laws and fundamental values with its 2021 legislation barring LGBTQ+ content for minors. The law, critics say, conflates homosexuality with pedophilia and discriminates against LGBTQ+ individuals. The advocate general argued that the law prohibits the portrayal of ordinary LGBTQ+ lives and lacks evidence that such content harms minors.
