💨 Abstract
The trial of three retired Salvadoran military officers began in Chalatenango for the 1982 killings of four Dutch journalists during El Salvador's civil war. The defendants—Gen. José Guillermo García, Col. Francisco Morán, and Col. Mario Adalberto Reyes Mena—face up to 30 years in prison if convicted. The journalists were ambushed while reporting with leftist rebels.
