💨 Abstract

In Fairfax County, Virginia, police have increased patrols around elected officials' homes following targeted political violence in Minnesota. A man impersonating an officer killed former House Speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband, and shot state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife. Police in Fairfax County are enhancing security in response to these events, although no direct link to Virginia has been found. Fairfax police will send two uniformed officers for any home visits to elected officials due to the impersonation threat.
