Albert Votaw, a USAID public-housing expert, was killed in the 1983 Beirut bombing, deeply impacting his family. His daughter, Cathy, and granddaughter, Anna, both dedicated parts of their lives to public service and advocacy inspired by Albert's work. Cathy pushed for better treatment for families of victims of extremist attacks, and Anna worked as a contractor for USAID despite the dangers.
