💨 Abstract
José González Valencia, a top ally of Jalisco New Generation cartel leader "El Mencho," was sentenced to 30 years in prison for drug trafficking, including using semi-submersibles and other evasion tactics. He was arrested in 2017 and extradited from Brazil. Concurrently, El Mencho’s son-in-law pleaded guilty to money laundering. The U.S. escalates efforts against this cartel, designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization under the Trump administration.
