💨 Abstract
In August 2025, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) ended the practice of requiring federal workers to document five weekly accomplishments. Initially pushed by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, the requirement faced confusion and resistance. Multiple agencies ignored or adapted the directive, and Musk's voluntary role ended in May. The OPM clarified that managers already have tools to monitor team progress.
