Local emergency rooms are experiencing a simultaneous rise in flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases, which is unusual as RSV typically peaks after flu season. Physician assistant Jon Gonella at MedStar Health notes that this trend was expected. To prevent these illnesses, good hand hygiene, vaccination, and staying home when sick are recommended. Interestingly, COVID-19 cases are low nationwide but growing in the D.C. area.
