💨 Abstract

A Harris Poll found that most children aged 8-12 prefer free play without screens or supervision. Only 25% favored online gaming. Researchers suggest that today's children miss out on the independence and self-reliance gained from unstructured play. Since the 1980s, parents have increasingly worried about unsupervised time due to fears of harm or abduction, although evidence shows these fears are often unfounded.
