WTOP reports that a lightning storm on Wednesday featured 26,000 strikes from Western Maryland to the Eastern Shore, attributed to high humidity. Meteorologist Erik Taylor warned of the danger, noting that lightning can strike from 10 miles away, even in clear weather.
