💨 Abstract
In July 2025, President Donald Trump's administration extended a hiring freeze for federal agencies by three months, pushing it to Oct. This means no new civilian employees can be hired except in agencies critical to national security, public safety, and immigration enforcement, such as the National Weather Service and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
