💨 Abstract
A report by the Montgomery County, Maryland, Office of the Inspector General revealed significant failures in the employee screening process within the county's school system, which serves over 160,000 students. Over 12,000 employees have outdated background checks, and more than 4,900 have not undergone Child Protective Services screenings. Volunteers and contractors often start work before completing these checks.
