💨 Abstract

Loudoun County Sheriff Michael Chapman seeks to expand the school resource officer (SRO) program to include all 65 elementary schools by 2030. Currently, only middle and high schools have SROs. Chapman believes this expansion will enhance safety and foster positive relationships between law enforcement and young students. Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent Aaron Spence has previously expressed reservations due to cost, preferring unarmed security guards.
