đź’¨ Abstract

People with developmental disabilities in Maryland are facing significant delays and challenges in maintaining their Medicaid coverage. These issues stem from administrative backlogs, staffing shortages, and bureaucratic inefficiencies within the Maryland Department of Health. Advocates report that individuals and their families face months-long waits for redetermination and appeals, leading to gaps in essential services. Providers, often nonprofits, are incurring substantial financial losses by continuing care without reimbursement.
