💨 Abstract
China's leaders are downplaying the impact of US President Donald Trump's trade war, promising support for companies and the unemployed, easier lending conditions, and other policies to limit damage from higher tariffs on Chinese exports. Chinese officials believe the economy has the momentum to expand at the target rate of about 5% this year, and have measures in place to manage without energy imports from the US, expand domestic demand, and support entrepreneurs among the unemployed.
