💨 Abstract
The Picuris Pueblo, a U.S. Indigenous tribe in New Mexico, has for the first time used DNA research to confirm their ancestral links to the Chaco Canyon region, a center of ancient Pueblo culture. DNA from 13 current tribe members matches that of 16 Picuris individuals who lived between 1300 and 1500 AD in Chaco Canyon.
