💨 Abstract
The article discusses the underrepresentation and challenges faced by Afro-Mexicans, highlighting the experiences of actress Eréndira Castorela and the theater company Mulato Teatro. Castorela, who discovered her African ancestry, faced discrimination in the film industry for not fitting stereotypes of Mexican or Indigenous features. Mulato Teatro, founded by Marisol Castillo and Jaime Chabaud, empowers Afro-Mexican actors and addresses themes of diversity and cultural identity through its plays.
