đź’¨ Abstract

A Wisconsin angler, Christopher Thuss, discovered the wreck of the J.C. Ames, a tugboat built in 1881, in Lake Michigan. The ship, one of the largest on the Great Lakes, was used for moving lumber and transporting railway cars before being scuttled in 1923. Buried in sand, recent storms exposed the wreck. Historians are eager to study it before invasive quagga mussels can destroy it.
