💨 Abstract
The United Food and Commercial Workers union has secured a new pension plan for 26,000 meatpacking workers at 14 JBS facilities, marking the first new pension plan in nearly 40 years. The contract, ratified this week, also includes paid sick leave, wage increases, and new safety measures. The pension plan aims to retain workers and provide long-term job security, addressing concerns of high turnover in the industry. Workers praised the move for providing retirement security.
