In mid-May 2025, Texas and the southeastern U.S. are experiencing unusually high temperatures, more typical of August, due to a strong ridge of high pressure over the Gulf of Mexico. Extreme heat warnings are in place for millions. Some areas in Texas may break daily or monthly temperature records. The extreme heat is expected to last for the next 6-10 days, potentially longer.
