💨 Abstract
Brazilian microbiologist Mariangela Hungria has been awarded the 2025 World Food Prize for her groundbreaking work on biological nitrogen fixation, which has significantly boosted crop yields and reduced the need for chemical fertilizers in Brazil. Over the last 40 years, Hungria has developed and promoted biologically based approaches to agriculture, leading to Brazil's status as the world's largest soybean producer.
