💨 Abstract
A cryptocurrency investor, John Woeltz, was indicted for kidnapping and torturing an Italian national in a Manhattan townhouse to steal Bitcoin. Woeltz and his alleged accomplice, William Duplessie, held the victim captive for 17 days, subjecting him to severe abuse, including electrical shocks and threats. Woeltz's bail request was denied. Police found evidence including cocaine, weapons, and photos of the victim at the crime scene.
