đ¨ Abstract
A petrochemical plant in Louisiana, owned by Japanese firm Denka, has indefinitely suspended operations due to financial struggles and the high cost of reducing toxic pollution. The plant, located in St. John the Baptist Parish, was accused of increasing cancer risks for the predominantly Black community. The plant's chloroprene emissions led to the closure of a nearby elementary school.
