💨 Abstract
A Massachusetts college student, Matthew Lane, will plead guilty to hacking into an education tech company's network and extorting millions from them. Lane stole data from 60 million students and 10 million teachers, demanding a $2.85 million ransom in Bitcoin. He also allegedly extorted a $200,000 ransom from a telecommunications company. Lane faces charges of cyber extortion, unauthorized access to computers, and aggravated identity theft.
