💨 Abstract
On May 13, 2025, New Jersey’s attorney general announced that 3M agreed to pay up to $450 million to settle lawsuits related to PFAS ("forever chemicals") contamination. The settlement, pending court approval, includes an initial payment of $285 million with additional amounts over 25 years. The lawsuits stem from PFAS contamination at two sites and other statewide claims over the use of PFAS in firefighting materials.
