💨 Abstract
North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs was sworn in for a new term after a prolonged legal battle over ballot challenges from her Republican opponent, Jefferson Griffin. Riggs won by a 734-vote margin out of over 5.5 million ballots cast. The dispute involved the eligibility of thousands of ballots, particularly from military, overseas voters, and those whose residency was questioned. A federal judge ultimately ruled in Riggs' favor, allowing her victory to stand.
