💨 Abstract

In Belgrade, thousands protested against the Serbian government's crackdown on universities, key players in ongoing anti-corruption demonstrations. They demanded the revocation of measures against protesting academics and the abandonment of plans to strip universities of autonomy. These protests began after a train station collapse in November, which was blamed on government corruption. The populist government, led by President Aleksandar Vučić, accused protestors of working with Western powers to undermine Serbia.
