💨 Abstract
A postal service truck in Delaware left unattended for three days contained over 12,000 birds, leading to the deaths of thousands due to high temperatures and lack of care. Over 5,000 surviving chicks, along with other birds like turkeys and quails, were rescued and adopted by local families, rescues, and farms. Many adopters aimed to keep the birds as pets or egg-laying hens, with some taking hundreds at a time.
