💨 Abstract

A federal judge approved a $2.8 billion antitrust settlement, allowing colleges to pay athletes directly, marking a significant shift in college sports. Division I schools can allocate up to $20.5 million annually for athletes' name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals. The settlement also includes $2.7 billion in back pay for athletes who competed between 2016 and 2024.
