A Chicago police officer, Krystal Rivera, was accidentally killed by her partner's gunfire while chasing a suspect. Rivera, a 36-year-old mother of a 10-year-old, was shot in the back during an altercation in an apartment where weapons were found. An eligible person was arrested but faced unconfirmed charges. The incident occurred when Rivera's unit tried to stop someone suspected of having a weapon.
