💨 Abstract
Calistoga, a town in Napa Valley, frequently faces wildfire threats and previously relied on diesel generators for backup power, causing pollution and noise. The town has now introduced a clean-energy system combining hydrogen fuel cells and batteries, providing reliable power for approximately two days during emergencies. This technology is seen as a step towards supporting the electric grid year-round. The new facility, built by Energy Vault, replaces the noisy, polluting diesel generators and could export power to the grid once fully connected.
