💨 Abstract
New York's Governor Kathy Hochul has proposed the construction of the state's first new nuclear power plant in decades. The new facility in upstate New York is intended to be a “zero-emission” plant that will help create a clean, reliable, and affordable electric grid. The state aims to build at least one nuclear energy facility with a capacity of one gigawatt, which would increase the state’s nuclear capacity to approximately 4.3 gigawatts.
