💨 Abstract
On July 8, 2025, former President Donald Trump sent letters to 14 countries, imposing higher tariffs if they do not make trade deals with the U.S. by August 1. Countries targeted include Brazil, Cambodia, and Thailand, among others. Trump warned against retaliation with higher import taxes. Countries like Thailand, Bangladesh, and South Africa responded with plans to negotiate or continue diplomatic efforts.
